Great Overseas Culture - Sydney Italian Wine & Food Festival

 One of the great things about Australia, and I know an awful lot about Australia, is it's amazing diversity of culture. When I was operating a local window cleaning service in Surry Hills Sydney, I got to know most of the best local places to eat. Time and again, some of the best food available was served by the Italian community, with their thousands of years of experience in cooking perfection!

So, it is no surprise that one of the best events on the Sydney calendar is the Sydney Italian Wine and Food Festival. Although the dates for this fantastic event vary(especially in a Covid affected World), it is generally held in Spring time during the Southern Hemisphere, which equates to around September for those who are not familiar with this.

How To Get There

When planning to attend, assuming that you won't stay in one of Sydney's hotels, the best and most cost effective way to reach the town hall is by using the new light rail system.

Departing from Kingsford(near Souths Juniors) on Anzac Parade, or, from Randwick(near the Children's hospital), the light rail meanders through Sydney's suburbs, arriving at Town Hall only a short time later. Unlike other big city's rail systems, the Sydney light rail is often uncongested, and is relatively inexpensive. If you contrast that with paid parking, which is usually at least $5AUD per hour, then the light rail makes the most sense as the best way to arrive.

What To Expect When You Attend

It goes without saying that Italian cooking features a few great staples. This festival covers all bases. With around 300 wines, and even 'Olive Oil Master Classes', the festival celebrates all things deliciously Italian!

Australia received a significant contribution from it's Italian settlers of old. This festival doesn't dwell on the past, although it does 'tip it's hat' to their influence. Instead, the festival celebrates one of the most powerful life enrichers.....Food!
